Tahlequah, OK - Betty Jo Corn, 77, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty Jo was born on February 29, 1948, in Barber, Oklahoma, and spent most of her life in Tahlequah. She dedicated 47 years of her life to teaching, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues with her passion, patience, and commitment to education.

Beyond the classroom, Betty Jo was devoted to her family. She was the heart that kept everyone together, always making sure her loved ones were cared for—and kept in line. Strong-willed, funny, loving, and deeply caring, she was a guiding force and leader in her family's life.

In her younger years, Betty Jo loved spending time at the Elk Lodge, two-stepping and even teaching others how to dance. In her retirement, she found joy in simple pleasures: sipping coffee, enjoying a sweet treat, and working on sudoku puzzles.

She is survived by her two daughters, Pam French and Debbie (Jake) Yandell; grandchildren Kristen French (Brian Stool), Alecia (Danny) Vincent, Chris (Lindsey) Girdner, and Sydney Girdner (Dylan Johnston); great-grandchildren Marcus Vincent, Addison French, Landen French, Cerena Vincent, Evie Girdner, Maverick Girdner, Conley Vincent, and Kenedi Jo Girdner; and her sisters, Coweta Ruckman and Bonita Forteny.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wob McKee; her mother, Hester Scott-McKee; and her sister, Blanche Steeley.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Girdner, Randall Girdner, Danny Vincent, Landen French, Marcus Vincent, and Brian Stool.

Betty Jo will be remembered for her devotion to family, her lifelong commitment to teaching, and the love and laughter she brought to everyone who knew her.
