TAHLEQUAH – Wanda Lee Eckhardt, 72, of Checotah, passed away on July 4, 2015, at her home. Wanda was born on Oct. 3, 1942, in Tahlequah, Okla., to Everette and Jewell (Shepard) Turnbull. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. On May 8, 1976, Wanda married Peter Eckhardt in Muskogee, Okla. They were happily married for over 39 years. She moved from Muskogee to the Checotah area in 1994. Wanda worked as a registered nurse in Muskogee until 1996. She was of the Baptist faith. Wanda loved to play golf. Survivors include: her husband, Pete, of the home; son, Jerry Wayne Archer, of Tahlequah, Okla.; stepdaughter, Brooke Eckhardt Lee, of Davenport, Iowa; brother, Everette “Jr.” Turnbull and wife, Pat, of Fort Worth, Texas; and two nieces: Debbie and Tammy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Everette and Jewell Turnbull. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2015, at the Kelley Memorial Chapel with Blair Monhollan officiating.
