Wanda's Story

Graveside services for Wanda Dotson, 86, of Tahlequah are 10:00 am Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Tahlequah City Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend's John Lee, Glenn Rowan, and Shane Culp. Pallbearers are Michael Booth, Barry Dotson, Anthony Dotson, Tory Dotson, Aaron Young, Jason Bennett and Shane Culp. Honorary pallbearers are Jay Young, Harold Ballard, John Rodgers, Ralph Thomas, Steve Arnall, Ben Cornell, Bill Rhoads, Jon Silka and Ronnie Holuby. Wanda Lea (Roberts) Dotson was born in Hindsville, Arkansas on September 2,1930, to Alfred and Alpha (Walden) Roberts (Malone). She depated this life on April 12, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Wanda was a graduate of Huntsville High School in Arkansas where she met and later married Charles Hugh Dotson. In 1956 the family moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma. In 1957 they went into partnership with her dad and stepmother to open Dotson-Roberts Lumber Company, where she worked as a bookkeeper until the business was sold in 2007. During this time, she attended NSU to further her love of music. Wanda was a member of Crescent Valley Baptist Church and later Park Hill Baptist Church. She was an active member serving as a teacher, WMU director, music director, and member of the choir. She frequently sang solos.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband; her mother and stepdad, Gavin and Alpha Malone; dad and stepmother, Alfred and Mary Roberts; her brother, Paul Roberts; and two nephews Jim Roberts and Kelly Malone.
She is survived be her children, Vickie Booth and husband Tim, Larry Dotson and wife Linda, and Gary Dotson and wife Gail, all of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Michael Booth and wife Leslie, Susan and husband Aaron Young, Kelli and husband Jason Bennett, Barry Dotson and wife Melissa, Tory Dotson and wife Samantha, Melinda and husband Shane Culp, Anthony Dotson and wife Jennifer; 17 great grandchildren, Morgan Booth, Madison Booth, Colton Booth, Faith Young, Bella Young, Seth Dotson, Hailey Dotson, Caleb Dotson, Blake Dotson, Reese Dotson, Dean Culp, Cole Culp, Riley Dotson, Jordyn Dotson, Baylee Bennett, Erin Bennett and Jacie Bennett; brothers, Luther Malone of Idaho, Harold and Bev Malone of Washington; sister, Charlotte and husband Cliff Maxfield; a brother-in-law, Herman Kay Dotson and wife Joan of Seminole, Oklahoma; and many others who she will be greatly missed by.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Park Hill Baptist Church Missions Fund.
