CHELSEA – Ricky Gene Ketcher, the son of John A. and Mildred (Justice) Ketcher, was born Dec. 29, 1958, in Lawrence, Kan., and departed this life on Oct. 3, 2015. Rick, as he was known to his friends and family, attended Tahlequah schools, graduating high school in 1977. Rick received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology at Northeastern State University and was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. He began his career at the United Methodist Children’s Home, Tahlequah, and for several years was contacted by youth on whom he had made an impression. In 1998, he moved to Denver, Colo., continuing his career working with youth in child protection, as well as with veterans, Native Americans, and the metropolitan homeless. Rick enjoyed life, family and friends, and always enjoyed a good laugh. He loved to camp and hike. He touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John A Ketcher Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Ketcher Davenport and husband Glen, of Newkirk; his brother, Gary, and wife Petra, of Chelsea; and his grandchildren, Spencer and Lily, of Newkirk.
