Rick Leon Jennings, of Vici, Okla., passed from this life on Feb. 25, 2017. He was born on Sept. 11, 1958, to Edward and Jaunita Jennings in Tahlequah, Okla. He was raised in the area where he attended Tenkiller Public Schools and later Tahlequah High School, graduating with the Class of 1976. He then served in the United States Navy where he served honorably from 1978 to 1981 aboard the USS Bronstein.
On Aug. 22, 1987, he was married to the love of his life, Iva Lee Morris, at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Vici, and to this union five children - Sheri, Matthew, Emily, Mikahla, and Ann - were born. Rick and Iva lived in the Welling area, a brief time in Colorado, then back to Welling until moving to Vici in 2008. Rick worked as an auto technician at McKay Ford in Woodward, and in his spare time enjoyed cars (especially Mustangs!), racing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Oklahoma Mustang Club. He was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn where he had been baptized on Jan. 11, 1987.
In addition to his parents, Edward and Jaunita Jennings, Rick was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Jennings; three children, Sheri Jennings, Matthew Jennings, and Ann Jennings; as well as a brother, Delmar Jennings.
Left to carry his legacy are daughters, Mikahla Jennings of Vici, Okla., and Emily Smith and husband Brian of New Whiteland, Ind.; grandchildren, Landyn Jennings and Daniel Smith; sister, Anita Sue Ward and husband Ray; brothers, Johnny Jennings and wife Ginger, James Jennings all of Welling, Okla., Dwayne Jennings and wife Carol of Eldon, Okla., Gary Jennings and wife Janice of Tahlequah, Okla., and Keith Jennings and wife Sue of Newport, Va.
Services will be held Friday, March 3, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Welling Church of the Firstborn, Welling, Okla., with burial following at Caney Cemetery, Tahlequah, Okla. Condolences may be made to the family at shawfuneralhome.net.
