Louise Maher Taylor was born on October 19th, 1932 in Muskogee, OK, the daughter of Clyde Albert and Mattie Etta (Duvall) Maher. She grew up with one brother and three sisters, attended school, and then on June 2nd, 1952, became the bride of Leo Edward Taylor, a beautiful bond that celebrated 50 years of love and devotion on June 2nd, 2002. Together they raised a family of five children, David, Claude, Marietta, Janice and Vivian. Louise dedicated her life and that of her family to God, faithfully serving Him all the days of her life. Louise and Leo were founding members of the Church of God Seventh Day and demonstrated their love for their fellow human beings by serving in any capacity they could. Louise worked from the rising of the sun until it set. She was the Assistant Director at Bread of Life Ministries. She cooked at Woodall and Stone Chapel schools and drove the school buses. She worked for JR Morgan Designs. When she was at home, she cared for her husband, her family and her home. She sewed her clothes and those of her family, decorated cakes, crocheted, did needle work and made beautiful quilts. She was a member of the Ladies Home Extension Club and entered clothing in the fair. She was an accomplished cook and made sure there was a wonderful home cooked meal at her house following church every Saturday. You havent eaten a donut until you had one from Louises kitchen. Louise led by example, reading her Bible daily and asking that her family do Gods will and encouraged each and every one of them to do the same. Her heart and front door were open to everyone and she always made time for friends and family that needed her. Leo and Louise enjoyed collecting coins and the occasional trip to the flea markets. The best times were those spent in the company of their children and many grandchildren. She was so very proud of all of them and all the activities they were in. Her husband passed from this life in 2010. Louise carried on her many acts of service and spent as much time as possible with those she loved until her health began to fail her. The Lord called this loving, gentle woman home from her many labors on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 at her home with her loved ones by her side. Louise was 84 years old. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband Leo, one son, Claude Edward Taylor, one brother, Clyde Walter Sonny Maher, and one sister, Margaret Vivien Guinn.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, David Henry Taylor and wife Denise of Tahlequah, OK, Marietta Ullrich and husband Calvin of Tahlequah, OK, Janice Baskeyfield and husband Kenny of Tahlequah, OK, and Vivian Woolsey and husband David of West Siloam, OK. She leaves two sisters, Lucille Hinds of Tahlequah, OK, and Ruby Guinn of Ft. Gibson, OK. Her legacy lives on in her 16 grandchildren and her 29 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friend and loved ones.
