Funeral services for Larry Evins Klinger , 73, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, are 10:00 am. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Tahlequah First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Buddy Hunt and Reverend Ron Rice. Pallbearers are Daniel Keating, Todd Lewis, Kevin Klinger, Brett Bardell, Brad Criner, and David Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Maurice Turney, Wayne Kindle, Ken Collins, and Glen Stafford. Interment will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Larry Evins Klinger was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on January 6, 1943, to Preston E. and Margaret (Evins) Klinger. Larry passed away at home on May 30, 2016.
Larry grew up in Colcord, Oklahoma, where he was raised by his parents Margaret and Gus Grubb. Larry attended local schools there and was a graduate of Colcord High School. He attended Northwestern State University in Alva, Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Right after graduation from college Larry entered the Army. He was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and then went on to Korea where he served 13 months. While in the service he wrote for the "Baronet," "Stars and Stripes," and other individual papers. After serving his time in the armed forces he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and began working for oil companies in the personnel department.
Larry and Martha were married in Atlanta on April 23, 1970, and have been married for 46 years. Larry and Martha had three children Kevin, Mitzi, and Marcie.
Larry began working with Bill Richardson at Go Ye Village in 1982 and has remained doing so ever since.
He retired from RESEC in 2014.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Grubb and husband Gus; his father, Preston Klinger; and brother, Roger Klinger.
He is survived by his wife Martha, of the home; three children, Kevin Klinger and wife Laci of Park Hill, Oklahoma, Mitzi (Klinger) Keating and husband Daniel of Bartlet, Tennessee, and Marcie Klinger of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Taylor Keating, Charlie Keating, Henry York Keating, Karson Klinger and Presley Klinger; a brother-in-law, Farrell Griffies and wife Barb of Atlanta, Georgia; a nephew, Todd Griffies and wife Jeannie; a niece, Trayce Griffies; a great nephew, Trent Griffies; and many dear friends to numerous to mention.
