Graveside Services for Julia Palmer, 91 of Tahlequah, Oklahoma are 11:00 am, Wednesday February 22, 2017, at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma under the care of Green Country Funeral Home.
Julia Palmer was born on November 27, 1925, in Liverpool, England to James and Elizabeth (Orrell) McArthur. She passed away at her home in Tahlequah on February 15, 2017.
On August 12 1950, she married William Arthur Palmer. William was served in the Eighth Air Force during World War II. Julia lived through the German bombing of the Liverpool docks but unfortunately she lost an Aunt in the German Blitz.
Julia was stationed with her family in Texas, Georgia and Germany where William Palmer died while on active duty. She came to Tahlequah in May of 1966, because it is where she and William had planned on retiring. Julia began working at Shoppers Town, Dime Store on Main Street as a sales clerk and later began employment at the City Golf Course where she would eventually retire from.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elizabeth McArthur; her husband, William Arthur Palmer; a son William Michael Palmer; five siblings, James (Jimmy) McArthur, Alex McArthur, Kay McArthur, Letty (McArthur) Simpson, and Lilly McArthur.
She leaves behind her son, John Palmer of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; a brother, Frank McArthur of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Sarah Drywater of Jenks, Oklahoma and Jennifer Palmer of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; a grandson, Ian Palmer of Virginia Beach, Virginia; three great granddaughters, Lorlei Palmer, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Lindsey and Heather Glory of Jenks, Oklahoma; a great grandson, Blake Drywater of of Jenks, Oklahoma; nieces, Rosalind Van Belois of London Ontario, Canada and Allison Mitchel of Sydney, Australia; nephews, James McArthur of Sydney, Australia, and Jasin Palmer of Houston, Texas.
