Jimmy Rue Terrill, 79, of Cookson, died on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, in Sallisaw, Okla.
Jimmy was born on March 14, 1937, at home in Okemah, OK to William and Rosa Terrill. He attended and graduated from Okemah High School in 1955. Jimmy came from humble beginnings and worked hard to take care of his mother after his father was killed in an auto accident when he was 17 years old. He was the youngest of seven children, all of whom were waiting for him upon his arrival in heaven.
Jimmy married Betty "Jane" Waddell on Aug. 9, 1958, and they moved to Oklahoma City, where they lived until after his retirement. In 1989, they moved full time to their Tenkiller Lake home at Chicken Creek which they had purchased in 1970, and added onto over the years to make it their family home.
They have two daughters, Pamela Jane and Sheila Janine; six grandsons, Christopher, Jeremy, Bradley, Kyle, Brandon and Sean; and 5 great-grandsons, Christopher, Odin Abel, Miles and Tyde.
During his career, he worked at Tinker Air Force Base, the United States Post Service and the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City. He retired after 27 years of civil service.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at Forever Memories Funeral Services of Sallisaw. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at the Proctor Cemetery of Cookson, OK., memorial services will immediately follow at the Cookson United Methodist Church with Pastor Kyle Clark officiating.
Services are under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services of Sallisaw, OK.
