Jack was a long time resident of the Moody Community in Northern Cherokee County in a place called Kingfisher Acres. He was the only surviving child of Nelson and Marie Osage Henson Kingfisher. He was a graduate of Kansas High School in Delaware County and a lifelong member of the Johnson Prairie Baptist Church.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and just an all-around outdoorsman who loved to sit outside and watch the chickens and dogs run around the yard as he drank his coffee. He had many accomplishments in his life as he served in the Army and fought in the Vietnam Conflict. Upon returning from the war he married his love Betty Sue Tucker Kingfisher and they had two sons Choogie and Tim Kingfisher adding to a sister, Rachel Blackfox Russell, from a previous relationship.

Jack was a heavy equipment operator in his early years and eventually found himself in the beginnings of the new Cherokee Nation EMS program as he transitioned over from the CHR Program. He saw many first as he was involved in the political scene and saw the first elected Chief and the beginnings of what we now know as the Cherokee Nation , the beginnings of the EMS program, CNO Paramedic school, and many other first for Cherokee country.

He held many positions as president with most involving gospel singing; Four County Gospel Singing Association, Oaks-Rocky Ford Gospel Singing, Kingfisher Memorial Gospel Singing, Eli Nofire Gospel Singing, and the Cherokee Holiday Gospel Singing to name a few. He was also a very influential figure at Johnson Prairie Baptist where he served as teacher, committee member, and other positions.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Sue Tucker Kingfisher, of 47 years; his parents, Nelson and Marie Osage Henson Kingfisher, and 3 brothers and 1 sister. He leaves behind two sons and one daughter, Choogie Kingfisher and wife Traci of Pryor, Tim Kingfisher and wife Chasley of the home, and Rachel Blackfox Russell of Rocky Ford. Eleven grandchildren….Bam, Larry, Trey, Jascon, Stevi, Olivia, Zak, Shandah, Nick, Kandace, and Jerrid as well as fourteen great grands and two more in the coming months.
He also leaves behind a large family consisting of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to carry on his memory.
Jack will be missed by many but we rejoice in knowing he has been united with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with his love of 47 years, Betty Sue.
