TAHLEQUAH – Services for Doyle Lee Green Sr. will be Friday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Tahlequah with Pasto r Buddy Hunt officiating. Burial will take place at the Tahlequah City Cemetery following the service under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Visitation will be observed on Thursday, Sept. 3, from 6–8 p.m. at Green Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah. Doyle was born on July 18, 1930, at home in Etta Bend to Clifford Joe and Ida Emmaline (Cain) Green. He passed away at his home in Tahlequah on Aug. 31, 2015, at the age of 85. Doyle attended Etta Schools until 1945, then transferred to Tahlequah High School where he graduated with honors in 1949. On Feb. 23, 1951, he married the love of his life, Wilma Pauline “Polly” Cochran. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1953. Upon his honorable discharge, came back to Tahlequah to attend Northeastern State University, where he graduated with honors in 1958. Inspired by his college football coach, he became an educator and coach until his retirement from Nederland, Texas, in 1991. Doyle was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend. He loved his church family and dedicated much of his life to serving the Lord. His friends, fellow coaches, and former players continued to be an important part of his life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, and time on his farm. Doyle is preceded in death by his wife, Polly; and his parents, Clifford and Ida Emmaline (Cain) Green.
