TAHLEQUAH – Funeral services for Charles L. Newcomb, 76 of Tahlequah, are 10 a.m., Friday, June 5, at Green Country Funeral home. Pallbearers are Matthew Newcomb, Patrick Newcomb, Stephen Newcomb, Nick Lovall, Gary Duncan, and Jackie Roach. Interment will follow in the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Charles Lee Newcomb was born in Pryor on May 1, 1939, to Levi M. Newcomb and Louisa Jane (Abbott) Newcomb. He passed from this life on May 31, 2015, in Tahlequah. Charles grew up in Pryor where he attended high school. After school, he entered the Army National Guard. Following his discharge he then entered the Air National Guard. At the age of 18, he would elope to Miami, Okla., with Otis Sandi May and, on Dec. 27, 1957, they were married. Charles and Sandi had shared 56 wonderful years together at the time of her passing in 2014. Charles worked for Martin Marietta Cement in Pryor until 1969 when he moved to Longmont, Colo. There he helped finish building a cement plant and remained there until his retirement. He and Sandi returned to Tahlequah in 1998. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, participating in baseball as a player and spectator. He also enjoyed jeep racing and rodeos. Green Country Funeral Home, 203 S. Commercial Road, 918-458-5055.
