Billy Gerald Nodine, or Bill to his friends, was born on August 29th, 1945 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Marion Ernest and Ruby Gladys (Ford) Nodine. He grew up with three sisters and one brother, and attended school in the Moody School District. On January 5th, 1972, he married the love of his life and his best friend, Phyllis Jean Franklin. Together they raised one son and his stepdaughter. Bill worked all of his lifetime for the City of Tahlequah at the Sanitation Department. When he wasn't working there, he was at the Illinois River, an area he knew and loved his whole life long. He had worked many of the ranches in the area and even liked cutting wood in the winter along the banks of the Illinois. He was quiet and thoughtful, a man that pretty well kept to himself. He enjoyed the peace and solitude of the river and the outdoors. He needed very little in the way of physical possessions to be happy. His was the pleasures of the open skies, the water rushing by, and his family to love. He liked to hunt, to fish and to visit up and down the countryside. He raised vegetables and flowers of the large elephant ear variety. He loved life, and his grandchildren were very special to Bill. He was always so proud of any of their accomplishments. He and Phyllis enjoyed each others company until Phyllis passed from this life in 2011. Bill's health began to fail him, and he went to his eternal rest on June 22nd, 2016 in Tahlequah, OK with his family by his side. He was 70 years old. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Phyllis, his sisters, Joy Kay White and Delila Faye Sloan, and one brother, Wiley Ray Nodine.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Randall Scott Nodine and wife Sylvia of Tahlequah, OK, his step daughter, Lisa Donnell Watkins and husband Johnny of Ft. Gibson, OK, his sister, Tammye Romano and husband Steve of Edmond, OK, and one brother-in-law, John White of Edmond, OK. his legacy in life lives on in his three granddaughters, Samantha Michelle Nodine, Sara Leeanne Watkins and Kimberly Sierra Nodine, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
Bill's family would like to take this time to give a heartfelt thank you to Cherokee County Nursing Center and Carter Hospice for all the tender, loving care given to Bill and his family during his recent illness and passing.
