Alfred Jennings Pruitt was born Jan. 3, 1947, in Dinuba, Calif., to David Arthur and Hazel Janet (Hopkins) Pruitt. He passed away on Jan. 24, 2016, in Tahlequah, Okla. Alfred lived in Dinuba, Calif., until between the ages of 13 and 14 when the family would move to Oklahoma for a short time. The family would again move to England, Ark., where Alfred graduated from England High School in 1965. He and Linda Helton began dating in 1963, and they were married in North Little Rock, Ark., in 1965. Following graduation, Alfred’s career began in the car business and remained in that field, working with his son Chris for the last five years. In his younger years, Alfred enjoyed bowling. He loved fishing and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Perry, Okla. Alfred, even while fighting his illness, would attend all of his grandson’s football games. He was liked by everyone, and he was not known to have been mean to anyone throughout his life. Most that knew him said he was the nicest man they had ever met. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Janet and David Pruitt; a daughter, Machaell Smith; great-grandson, Davin Hoffmon; and sisters, Phyllis Cole and Ann Cooper. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Linda Pruitt of the home; his son, Chris Pruitt and wife Rhonda of Tahlequah; seven grandchildren, Kyle Petitt, Collin Pruitt, Krystan Hoffman, Bradley Pruitt, Alexander Pruitt, Parker Pruitt and Eli Pruitt; great-grandchildren, Aedyn Hoffman, Mason Petitt, and Kinsley Pruitt; six siblings, brother, Max Pruitt, sister, Jackie Lackey, sister, Marsha Sebring, brother Anthony Pruitt, sister, Sharon Stewart, and sister, Gail Potter; as well many extended family members and friends.
