Wilma's Story

Funeral Services for Wilma Jean Hood, 91 of Tahlequah, Oklahoma will be held at South College Church of Christ, Tuesday February 21st at 2 PM. Officiating will be The Minister Larry Ellis. Pallbearers are Braxton Hood, Levi Troyer, Zachary Havener, Quinten Havener, Riley Radomski, Braden Mullins, Chasen Mullins, and Trey Phillips. Honorary pallbearers are Callen Havener, Jaxon Phillips, and Jayce Gibson. Interment will follow in the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends and family for visitation and viewing from 6 pm to 8pm on Monday at Green Country Funeral Home.
Wilma Jean Farrell Hood was born to Hollis and Elsie Farrell in Wewoka, Oklahoma on June 11th, 1925. She completed her earthly journey and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.
Jean was one of four children and graduated from Wewoka High School before marrying her sweetheart, John Hood on November 7, 1944 in Hoffman, Oklahoma. They lived in various places before making their home in Tahlequah in 1962. Jean was a loving wife and mother who was very active in her children's lives through 4H and PTA. Jean "Grandma Hood" loved teaching all of her grandkids to crochet, sew and make pot holders. She also enjoyed playing board games, jump rope, jacks, dominos and UNO with them any time she had the chance.
Jean was a long time member of the South College Church of Christ where she was a bible class teacher. She loved attending Ladies Bible Class and quilting every Tuesday. Jean worked at Tinker AFB during World War II and later worked as a secretary at Farm Bureau and for the Cherokee County Election Board. She loved cooking, canning and sewing. Jean looked forward to her visits with her sisters Susie and Allene where they would talk, laugh and tell stories for hours.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband John; both of her parents; her brother, James Farrell; and her, son Johnny.
She is survived by her sisters, Susie Blackwell and Allene Randolph; three children, Tommy Hood and wife Deidra, Jerry Hood and wife Margaret all of Tahlequah, and Donna (Hood) Fogle and husband Jack of Stillwater; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Havenar and husband Paul, Wesley Hood and wife Carlinda, Darrell Hood and wife Samantha, Jerrod Hood and wife Robyn, Kaci Reisner and husband David, Angela Vann and husband Mark, Nicole Davis, Susie Radomski and husband Phillip, Becky Gibson and husband Jacob, and Christy Mullins and husband Dale. Jean had 21 loving Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Her love touched others each day until she entered the heavenly gate.
