Wanda Jean Barnes was born in Ashland, KS, on December 16, 1938, to C.W. and Marjorie (Hughes) McAllister. She passed away quietly at the Ranch in Tahlequah, OK, on March 19, 2016 at the age of 77.

Wanda attended and graduated Ashland High School. She met Thelbert Barnes in Ashland, KS and was later married in September 13, 1959 in Miami, OK.

Being the wife of a pipeliner they worked in all the lower 48 states. Wherever the job took them she always made it feel like home.

Wanda loved Jesus and was a member of Exciting Southeast Baptist Church. There are no words to describe what kind of Wife, Mother, Granny, Sister, Aunt, and friend she was. She was simply amazing. We called her Dr. Mom and the Baby Whisperer! If she wasn't home she was just a phone call away. She always knew what to do, whether it be help with a recipe, advice with a sick child, or any number of subjects. She absolutely adored Dad and her family. We are so blessed as children to have witnessed their kind of marriage. She always put others first, she loved serving not only her family but also in the Church. Over the years the kids brought home "temporary siblings" and she always took them in and treated them as her own.

Wanda is preceded in death by her Son, Ray; Grandson, Derek Barnes; her Brother, Charles McAllister; Father, C.W. McAllister; Mother, Marjorie (Hughes) McAllister; Mother-in-law, Christine Barnes Conrad; and Father-in-law, Teddy Barnes.

She is survived by her husband, Thelbert of the home; Sons, Wayne and wife Jennifer, James and wife Machelle; Daughter-in-law, Kathy; Daughter’s, Ronda Teague and Husband Rob, and Donna Pierce and Husband Rob, all of Tahlequah; OK. Sister’s Darlene Coldren of Woodward, OK, and Priscilla Smith and Husband Don of Wagoner, SD; 13 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces, Nephews; Great Nieces and Nephews; and a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Exciting Southeast Baptist Church's building fund.
