Sylvia's Story

Long time resident of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; Sylvia Cox passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the age of 93.
A grave side service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Tahlequah City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Susan G. Komen Organization for Breast Cancer Research in memory of Sylvia.
Sylvia was born in Cherokee County, Oklahoma on February 8, 1924. She was active in her community, church, and with friends and family. During her career she worked for Ozark Nursery, Northeastern State University and owned and operated two family restaurants.
She loved quilting, gardening and cooking for family and friends. She was happiest with a house full of people eating, laughing, sharing stories, and playing games, especially dominoes. She was an avid walker and loved traveling.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Arlie "Ned" Cox, her parents and her 12 siblings.
Survivors are Sons, Rex Cox and wife, Sue of Tahlequah, OK; David Cox and wife, Tarra of Paducah, TX; Daughters, Sharon Hinds and husband Bill; and Brenda Bernardo and husband, Mike, both of Arlington, TX; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; plus step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
