Ruby Jean Spencer, or Jeannie to her family and friends, was born on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1953, in Shady Grove, Oklahoma, the daughter of Earl Jim and Altha (Hubbard) Spencer. She was raised in a large family of seven brothers and five sisters, attending grade school in Peggs and graduating from Tahlequah High School. Theirs was a close and loving family, even a little competitive when it came to card games and dominoes.
Jeannie loved the outdoors; every chance she got she was watching the birds at her bird feeder, gardening, or enjoying a day in the sunshine, fishing with her family. She was a waitress by profession, and always made people feel that they were important. She had an easy smile and was the kind of person you felt you had known for years. She was an accomplished cook and loved cooking dinner for her family to enjoy. The most important part of her life was her son Randy and daughter Danielle. Her grandchildren were loved and adored, and she was their biggest supporter. Grace, Emma, Kate and Josie were her pride and joy. A Christian by faith, she was a member of the Double Springs Church of God.
For as much as she loved life and her family, the Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, in Hutchinson, Kansas, with her family at her side. She was 65 years old. She will be greatly missed for all her love and kindness.
Jeannie is preceded in death by her mother, father, three brothers, Carl Spencer, Jerry Spencer, and Earl Ray Spencer, and a sister, Helen Moore Spencer.
Those left to celebrate her life include her beloved children, Randy Hendrickson and wife Nichole of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, and her daughter, Danielle Hendrickson of Pretty Prairie. She leaves four brothers and four sisters, Leonard Spencer and wife Judy of Hulbert, Oklahoma, Joseph Spencer of Pensacola, Oklahoma, Rocky Spencer and wife Darlene of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, John Spencer and wife Sara of Gideon, Oklahoma, Lynn Flynn of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, DJ Rohde of Locust Grove, Carolyn McKisson and husband Darrell of Cuba, Missouri, and Sue Spencer of Braggs, Oklahoma. She lives on in her four granddaughters, Grace Hendrickson, Emma Hendrickson, Kate Hendrickson and Josie Hendrickson, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
