TAHLEQUAH – Funeral services for Robert Finnely West Jr., 62, of Tahlequah, are at 2 p.m. Friday July 10, 2015, at Green Country Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Buddy Hunt. Pallbearers are members of the Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com. Robert West was born in Monroe, La., on Oct. 29, 1952, to Robert Finnely West Sr., and Ray Ozell (Williams) Chavers. He passed away at his home in Tahlequah on July 7, 2015. Robert grew up and attended school in Oak Grove, La. Before graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. On Jan. 5, 1980, in Colorado Springs, Colo., he married Linda Hardcastle. He and Linda would move and make their home in Tahlequah. Robert had several jobs and most recently worked for NSU before his health forced him to retire. Robert enjoyed spending time with and raising his family. He was active in the community, serving as a Girl Scout leader; being a member of the American Legion Hartness Blackfox Post 135; serving as chair of deacons and Sunday school superintendent, and lay minister for the First Presbyterian Church of Tahlequah; and was a member of Tahlequah First Baptist Church. Robert is preceded in death by his father, Robert West Sr. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; parents, Ray Ozell and Lloyd Chavers Jr.; children, Tiffany West of the home, Chandra Scroggins of Tahlequah, Okla., Jewel Paxton and husband Terry of Ohio, and Mary Bost and husband B.J., also of Ohio; six grandchildren, Scott, Timothy, Alex, Victoria, Jason, and Acelynn; six siblings, Patty Helmer, L.T. Chavers, Jeanette Debose, Betty McDaniel, Ben Chavers and Maggie Pardon; as well as many other friends, and loved ones. Green Country Funeral Home, 203 S. Commercial, 918-458-5055.
