Robert "Robbie"'s Story
Robert "Robbie" Dustin Rowland was born Nov. 20, 1988, in Tahlequah, Okla., to Robert Rowland and Karen (Velosky) Goodman. He departed this life on Friday, May 6, 2016, in Owasso, Okla., at the age of 27 years, 5 months, and 16 days.
Robbie grew up in Locust Grove, graduating from Locust Grove High School in 2007, and was a member of the Locust Grove High School Wrestling Team. More specifically, he was a member of "Jon's Team." This team was the Locust Grove Pirate Wrestling Team that won the 2007 Class 3A State Championship title, as well as being the 2007 Class 3A Dual Team State Runners-up. The team was named in honor of fellow team member Jon Cowan.
On July 2, 2013, in Coco Beach, Fla., Robert Dustin Rowland and Cady Renea Waddell were united in marriage. Together, they loved and cared for their daughter Lily. They had lived in Owasso for over three years. As well, they lived in Inola for some time. They had been a part of Rejoice Church in Owasso.
Robbie enjoyed playing video games, especially "Call of Duty." He was currently keeping fit by learning Ju-jitsu at Clinch in Owasso. Robbie's love and passion was for his wife and daughter, as well as the rest of his family. He treasured the time he spent with them and loved them dearly. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Robbie is survived by his wife, Cady Rowland, of the home; his daughter, Lily Rowland, of the home; his mother and step-father, Karen and Bob Goodman of Locust Grove, Okla.; his father, Robert Rowland of Peggs, Okla.; four sisters, Jennifer Simpson and Robert Dollarhide of Tahlequah, Brandy Rowland and Matt Maxwell of Locust Grove, Krystal Potter and husband Marcus of Pryor, Okla., and Hayley Goodman of Locust Grove; his paternal grandfather, Bob Rowland of Locust Grove; four nieces, Alexa Rowland, Katelyn Potter, Ava Maxwell, and Rachel Maxwell; one nephew, Derek Potter; numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Betty Rowland; his maternal grandparents, John and Leona Velosky; two uncles, Rusty "Nipper" Rowland and John "Johnny" Velosky; and one cousin, Bryan Mauzy.
The family will receive friends at the Locust Grove Funeral Home on Thursday, May 12, 2016, 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Locust Grove High School new gymnasium.
