TAHLEQUAH – Funeral services for Louie Wallace Gilliam will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, in the Green Country Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. George Hubbard. Pallbearers are Brady Gilliam, Mike Corbell, Mark Corbell, Joshua McManus, Kennie W. Gilliam Jr., and David Woffard. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Jackson, Carthel Means, Carlton Hubbard, Donnie McClure, Ray White, Claude Hoagland, and Charlie Hoagland. Interment will follow in the Holland Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com. Louie Wallace Gilliam was born Jan. 2, 1931, in Fort Gibson, to Tyrus Cecil and Ethel Mae (Jordan) Gilliam. He left this world on April 30, 2015, at the age of 84. During his teenage years, those around the Rocky Mountain and Hungry Mountain areas knew him best for roping goats and racing horses down the lane before there were race tracks. He enjoyed participating in rodeos where he had been a bull rider. He also met his wife Wanda while at a rodeo. They married on Dec. 26, 1956, in Stigler. They have been married 58 years. Louie enjoyed coon hunting during his younger days. When his health began to change and he could not keep up with the dogs he went to hunting rabbits. Louie had several hunting dogs and enjoyed them very much. Louie had many friends and would visit and sit with them when they had illnesses. Louie was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Wanda Jackson and Anna Mae Corbell. He is survived by his wife, Wanda of the home; three children, Kennie W. Gilliam Sr. and wife Lori of Tahlequah, Johnny L. Gilliam, and wife Christine also of Tahlequah, and Tonya McManus and husband Jerry of Welling; five grandchildren, Kennie W. Gilliam Jr., Shawnda M. Gilliam, Kristi D. Proctor, Hannah J. Gilliam, and Joshua McManus; six great-grandchildren, Eli Spottedhorse, Kaden Gilliam, Ashlyn Gilliam, Jaxon Proctor, Isaiah Damron, and Abby McManus; his brother Gary Gilliam; and many extended family members, and friends.
