TAHLEQUAH – Lelah Glidden King was born in Mars Hill, Maine, on March 3, 1931, to Alden and Martha (Roark) Glidden. She passed from this world on April 19, at her home in Tahlequah surrounded by her loving family at the age of 84. Lelah grew up and attended schools in Maine. After graduation from high school, she began working in a local restaurant as a waitress. This was where she met the love of her life, Ernest. From the first time he saw her, he knew “she was the one.” She and Ernest married on May 31, 1952, and shared 63 years of marriage at the time of her passing. In 1953, they would move to New Jersey while Ernest was serving time in the Army. Lelah enjoyed working on crafts, and cooking. She loved reading her Bible, attending church, and serving the Lord. Lelah would often be found teaching Sunday School classes. She was a very giving person who enjoyed helping others when she could. Lelah is preceded in death by her parents, Alden and Martha Glidden; three brothers, Basil Glidden, Ansel Glidden, and Averil Glidden; and one sister, Shirley Erickson. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest of the home; children, Mark King of Cookson, Terry King and wife Louise of Fort Gibson, Marlene King of Tahlequah, Richard King of Hawaii, and Carolyn King also of Tahlequah; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as many dear friends and loved ones. Lelah was a loving wife and mother and was loved very much by everyone who knew her. Green Country Funeral Home, 203 S. Commercial Road, 918-458-5055.
