Juanita's Story

TAHLEQUAH – Juanita (Faddis) Pitts, of Tahlequah, born Aug. 13, 1940, went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2015, at the age of 74 following a long illness. Juanita married Bobby Ray Pitts on July 18, 1960. A Cherokee County resident most of her life, she enjoyed gardening, working with flowers of all kinds and making friends wherever she went. She spent several years in banking, employed at First National Bank, Boatman’s Bank and Bank of America. She retired from Cherokee Nation. She enjoyed working in the Food Distribution department where she made many friends whom she spoke of often and fondly. Along with Bobby, Juanita was a member of Liberty Grace Chapel Church. She served as the church treasurer for several years, which was a position that she enjoyed immensely. Her faith in God was strong and remained so throughout her illness. Juanita is preceded in death by her father, Ernest Faddis; her mother, Ira Belle Christie; her brother, Leroy Faddis; her maternal grandmother, Kate Raincrow; and two sons, Dwight Pitts and Virgil Pitts. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Bobby Ray Pitts; four daughters, Valeda Stover of Tahlequah; Mary Hutchins and spouse, Jana of Palmer, Texas; Benita Pitts and husband, Jack Sanders of Stilwell; and Vera Barber and husband, James of Altus; 12 grandchildren, Kimberley Wooldridge and husband Derek of Catoosa, Beth Carter and husband Ronnie of Tahlequah, Rebecca Pitts of Tahlequah, Mandy Keys and husband Chris of Tahlequah, Clorissa Webb and husband Jake of Fort Gibson, Sarah Duria and husband Jeff of Dallas, Texas, Philip Hutchins and wife Magen of Dallas, Texas, Jeromiah Birdtail of Tahlequah, Jacob Birdtail of Tahlequah, Shawn Stover of Wichita Falls, Texas, Cody Barber and wife Beth of Altus, and Kayla Jackson and husband Kevin of Altus. Juanita was blessed with 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Viewing for Juanita will be on Wednesday, May 27, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday, May 28, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at White Oak Cemetery in Qualls.
