STIGLER – John Paul Neldon, of Stigler, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, in Tahlequah, at the age of 86. He was born Oct. 14, 1928, in Crabtree, Ark., to William Ayers (Dub) and Mollie (Williams) Neldon. He attended school until sixth grade when he started working with his father on the farm. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. After receiving an honorable discharge, he moved to Stigler and attended vo-tech using his G.I. Bill, learning auto body repair. He worked for Denver Rogers Chrysler until Mr. Rogers retired and then worked for Dunn Ford until John’s retirement. In June 1954, he married Bertie Lee Hill and through this union all five of his children were born. John loved fishing, bowling, working on cars, and spending time with his loved ones. In 2004, he met and married Marjorie House. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of Stigler; two daughters, Paula Gillean and husband, Steve, of Bristow, and Michelle Hart of Broken Arrow; and three sons, Johnny Glen Neldon and wife, June, of Mena, Ark., Danny Neldon and wife, Lora, of Tahlequah, Mike Neldon and wife, Kay, of Owasso. He had 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Martha Pilcher and husband, Richard of Augusta, Ark., Ruth Froman and husband, Larry, of Beebe, Ark., and Bernice Simpson of Portage, Mich.; and one brother, Charles Neldon and wife, Arlie, of Fennville, Mich. John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mollie Neldon; his first wife, Bertie Lee Neldon; three brothers, Aaron, Robert, and Carson; and two sisters, Lucille Swearingen and Nova Patterson. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Mallory Chapel, Stigler with Brother Willard Francis officiating. Burial will follow in Garland Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory of Stigler. Military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4446 Stigler, OK. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Hatley, Joshua Neldon, Brian Neldon, Nathanyul Neldon, Bobby Hill, and Ray Hatfield. Mallory Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, 204 N.E. “F” St., Stigler, 918-967-2133.
