TAHLEQUAH – Graveside services for Jimmie Nell “Nannie” Burleson are 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at Tahlequah City Cemetery. Officiating will be Chaplain Kevin Webster. Jimmie Nell Burleson was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on Feb. 6, 1942. She departed this life on Nov. 17, 2015, from her home in Tahlequah, Okla., at the age of 73. Jimmie grew up in the Wichita Falls, Texas, area. In 1969 she moved to Tahlequah where she raised her family. She attended Northeastern State University for two years and completed her nursing education in Calmor, Iowa, in 1978. She has worked at Cimarron Pointe Nursing Center in Mannford, Oklahoma Production Center, and Cherokee County Nursing Center. She enjoyed raising and feeding birds, and gardening. Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband, R. L. Burleson; her daughter, Tammie Brisco; parents, Ottis and Billie Parker; sister, Darlene Parks; and special friend, Wandola Allen. She is survived by her daughter, Terris Spears and husband Mickey of the home; six grandchildren, Michelle Spears of Fort Gibson, Misty Parish and Donnie of Tahlequah, Lisa Brisco of Muskogee, T.J. Spears of Tahlequah, B.J. Callaway of Sallisaw, and Shelby Felts of Tahlequah; 11 great-grandchildren; special friend, Amy Boyington; and many other friends and neighbors. The family would like to thank Carter Healthcare and Hospice for the care given their loved one during her illness with a special thank you to Lindsey, Shana, Allison, Betty and Chaplain Kevin Webster.
