Jerry was born the son of R.C. and Margaret (Patrick) Carter on Dec. 17, 1939, in Park Hill, OK. He died in Tahlequah, OK on November 17, 2017.

Jerry married Retha Marsh of Tulsa when they were both 19 years of age. To this union were two children, Merry and Galen. Their family was devastated when Retha was killed by a drunk driver. During this time Jerry grew closer to God, spending hours studying his Word. Then in Sept. 1980 Jerry married Charolette White Austin and they have shared the last 37 years together. They studied the Bible together and began attending Cornerstone Fellowship. The teaching of Pastors Allen and Lisa Nolan allowed them to grow in understanding Gods word. It was Jerrys' desire that all would attend and enjoy learning from the teaching at Cornerstone.

Jerry began Jerrys Carter's Used Cars and worked until the day he departed this earth. He loved kayak and canoe racing, hour and half workouts each day, bike riding, and power walking. His sense of humor was always prevalent finding something to laugh about in most any situation.

He has been preceded in death by his parents R.C and Margaret Carter; and an older brother Gilbert Lee at his birth.

Jerry is survived by his wife Charolette of the home; children Merry Carter, and Galen Carter and wife Shannon all of Tahlequah; sister Patsy Smith and husband Ron of Tulsa; Brother Ronnie Carter and wife Janice of Park Hill, step children Angela Rooks and husband Jeff of Griffin Georgia, and Steven Austin and wife Tonia of Marietta, Georgia, beloved grandchildren, Shane Messinger and wife Sally of Broken Arrow, Dustin Butler and wife Danielle of Park Hill, Hannah Markiewicz and husband James of Tulsa, Austin Rabon and Husband Matt of Griffin, Georgia, Ashton Brady and husband Chris of Tahlequah, and Payne and Price Austin of Marietta, Georgia and eight great grandchildren; many other relatives, friends and loved ones.

Jerry always looked forward to a birthday poem from his Sister-In-Law.
A Birthday Poem For Jerry
He carries a 410 by night,
It is his constitutional right,
He guards his car lot with might,
He will give you a fright,
So, man or beast, stay out of his sight.
