Jeremiah's Story

PEGGS – Jeremiah Robert Burson was born Feb. 26, 1985, in Tahlequah, Okla., to Robert E. Burson and Teresa Diane Rogers. He departed this life on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, in Tulsa, Okla., at the age of 30 years, 11 months, and 22 days. Jeremiah spent most of his life in the Peggs area and graduated from Tahlequah High School in 2003. He lived in Stilwell, Okla., for some time. For the last year, he lived in Tulsa. Jeremiah had worked as a journeyman and cabinet builder. At one time, he was a Department of Defense contractor for the military to act as an Iraqi soldier as a part of war game exercises. He was currently a manager at Auto Oasis in Tulsa. Growing up, Jeremiah enjoyed spending time at his grandfather’s place on Spring Creek. He loved to go hunting and fishing. As well, he loved to go junking for antiques with his aunts Paula and Becky. He collected oil paintings as well as coins and currency. Jeremiah loved his children deeply. Whenever it was possible, he spent as much time as he could with them. At the end of this month, on Feb. 29, he was engaged to marry the love of his life, Rachel. Jeremiah was happier now more than ever since having her in his life. He loved all his family dearly and had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. He was very family oriented and loved to give hugs. He treasured time spent with his family. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Jeremiah is survived by his fiancé, Rachel Miller-Burson of Tulsa; three children, Wyatt, Payton, and Austin Burson, all of Wagoner; mother, Teresa Small and husband Charles of Tahlequah; father, Robert Burson of Peggs, Okla.; five siblings, Rachel Burson and husband Dustin Brooks of Tahlequah, Ben Burson of Missouri, Jenifer Mitchell of Peggs, Jacob Burson of Peggs, and Carl Smith of Peggs; step-sister, Charlcee Small of Fayetteville, Ark.; maternal grandfather, Cecil Rogers of Peggs; three aunts, Paula Burson of Owasso, Okla., Becky Burson of Owasso, and Tammy Rogers of Peggs; uncle, Phillip Burson of Tenkiller, Okla.; several nieces and nephews including, Mariah Smith, Micah Smith, Makaylah Smith, Brixton Brooks, Brandon Mitchell, Tyler Mitchell, and Navia Mitchell; and numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Jeremiah was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jean Rogers; and paternal grandparents, Twila and Robert Burson. Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at Peggs Community Church. Zane Drake and Dan Miller officiated. Interment followed at New Home Cemetery in Peggs.
