James William "Jim the Barber" Smith, 78, of Tahlequah, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Tahlequah. Jim was born November 14, 1937 in Gans, OK to Corbett and Jessie (Foyil) Smith. He attended Gans High School and Tulsa Barber School.
Early in life, Hork barbered at Fort Chaffee, also Tahlequah and worked as a salesman for S and L Bolt Company out of Michigan. He also worked for Edwardsville Nursing Home in Edwardsville, Kansas.
Preceding him in death are his parents; sister Patsy Jones, two sons, James Roger Smith and Dennis Smith. And a very special dog Spot.
Those left to cherish his memory are wife Gwen Heyman-Smith of Tahlequah; one brother, Ethard Smith and his wife Margie of Muldrow; one daughter, Theresa Southerland and her husband David of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five sons, Kevin Smith and his wife Tami, Greg Smith and Hork Smith, all of Tahlequah; Bret Heyman and Bart Heyman both of Springfield, Missouri.
Grandsons; Nick and his wife Devon Southerland, Justin and his wife Julie Southerland, Tyler Smith, Anthony Heyman, Kye Tannehill and Taylor Tannehill.
Granddaughters, Amanda Vance and her husband Randy, Amber and her husband Jonathon Henson, Ashley Moore and Kenadee Vance, Sidney Heyman and Breigh Anna Heyman.
Great grandsons, Zane and Kru Vance, Braden Smith, and Gunner Southerland. Great granddaughters, Paisley and Charlee Southerland, Sutton Moore, Isabella Vance and Willow Baine. Also left to cherish his memory is a niece and numerous nephews, as well as other family and friends.
Hork enjoyed horse racing and working his cattle. He also enjoyed watching OU Football, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Gans Bible Church in Gans, Oklahoma with James Woodruff officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services of Sallisaw.
