PORTER – Hubert “Kent” Lonon will be laid to rest Thursday, Sept. 17, in Porter at the Greenwood Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Hubert Kent Lonon was born on May 10, 1945, in Muskogee. He began walking the streets of gold on Sept. 11, 2015. He had reached the age of 70 years old at the time of his passing. He had been preceded in death by his loving parents, Clifton and Evelyn Lonon; aunt, Cleo Lonon; and sister, Susan Bankston. He is survived and missed by his son, Andrew Lonon of Tahlequah; grandson, Ethan Lonon of Sand Springs; sister, Cindy Chaffin and brother-in-law Louis of Tahlequah; nephews, James Chaffin and wife Kimberly of Tahlequah, and Clakie Chaffin and Carissa also of Tahlequah; a niece, Sis Hubbard and husband Josh of Tahlequah; great-nieces and nephews, Tyler, Samantha, Dixie, Lylah, Luke and Drake Chaffin, Logan Milee, Noah and Bella Hubbard all of Tahlequah; as well as many extended family members and friends. Kent attended Porter High School and after graduating he went on to obtain his bachelor’s in education at Northeaster State University. He made the brave decision to join the United States Air Force to serve his country. Once his service ended, he became a teacher. Kent truly enjoyed all the kids he taught over the years. Once he retired from teaching, he spent his time subbing at Tahlequah High School, riding his Gold Wing, fishing, and traveling all over the United States. He met many friends along the way. Kent enjoyed attending Cornerstone Fellowship and going to family functions. He will be missed by all who knew him. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com.
