Georgia L. "Jo" Buckhorn, of Pumpkin Hollow passed from this life after a long hard battle with cancer on January 14, 2017. Graveside funeral services have been planned for 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Cedar Tree Cemetery in Briggs, OK with Bro. Dale Wilson officiating.
Jo was born to Sunday and Bessie McLemore Buckhorn in Tahlequah, OK on January 22, 1945. She was of the Baptist faith and rededicated her life, and took the Lords Supper on Christmas Eve, 2016. Georgia was constantly praying and kept her faith strong. She took comfort from watching John Hague sermons on TV. While in the hospital, she said she talked to Jesus. He showed her how beautiful Heaven is and she would be ready when He called her home.
Her family was blessed to spend Christmas and New Years with her in her hospital room. When she was able, Georgia loved being outdoors, going fishing, hunting, picking wild onions, and greens, and catching crawdads, and she took pride in the fact that she could fix her own vehicle. Georgia worked hard most of her life. She took time off to look after her mother when she was ill. She worked at park hill and Midwestern Nurseries for years. Georgia was a very giving person sharing what she had to help others. She leaves behind her special little dog cookie.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, and four infant siblings.
She is survived by her loving family , brother Jim "Leonard" Buckhorn of Twin Oaks, OK, sisters; Shirley Sims and husband Skip of Christie, OK, Carlene Wiley and husband Johnny of Watts, OK, a niece Gina Foreman and husband Chris of Twin Oaks, OK, and family friend, Brenda Adair of Stilwell, OK. Georgia was an amazing person that will be missed by her loving family and all who had the chance to know her.
The family would like to thank pastors, Ed Jumper and DJ McCarter who came and prayed for her while she was in the hospital. We will miss our big sis, taking care of her and spending time with her. She will be greatly missed by all of us and all who knew her, for the special person she was. She is in heavenly peace.
