Funeral services for Etta Rowena Woodard-Qualls, 81, of Locust Grove, are 2:00 pm, Thursday October 19, 2017, at Green Country Funeral Home. Officiating will be Reverend Robert Hunt. Pallbearers are Mickey Spears, Monte Robbins, Rusty Lamons, Lonnie Qualls, Bill West, and Rick Lamons. Honorary pallbearers are Jay Steeley, Steve Woodard, Rick Lamons, Jeff Heaps, Gene Rhodey, Bobby Richison, and Jim Hicks. Etta was born on February 2, 1936, in Shady Grove, Oklahoma to Albert and Thelma (Johnson) Steeley. She was called home on October 14, 2017, from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Etta grew up in the Shady Grove area of Cherokee County where attended school. She was a 1953
Bagley High Scholl graduate. Etta married Jimme Lee Woodard on September 21, 1953 in Tahlequah.
Etta went to work at Northeastern State University and retired after 30 years as an Administrative Assistant.
In her spare time Etta loved to travel and she loved spending time with her grandkids. She enjoyed classic cars, square dancing, country music and cooking.
On November 1, 1996, she married J.R. Qualls. They would have celebrated 21 years of marriage this year.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Vontreba Lamons; brothers, Jack Steeley and Les Steeley; infant son, Dwight Lee Woodard; infant daughter, Rotreba Woodard; first husband of 40 years Jimmie Lee Woodard.
Etta leaves behind her husband of the home, J.R. Qualls; son, Jimmie Dewayne Woodard, of Tahlequah, OK, Lonnie Qualls and wife Joanna of Grove, OK; daughter, Lori West and husband Bill of Porter, OK; ten grandchildren, Adam Woodard, Amanda Hicks and Jim, Ashley Heaps and Jeff, Alex Woodard and Melody, Erin Fitzpatrick, Deena Ohl and Ryan, Leigh Jo Qualls, Kayla Doss and Dave, Brittney Jenkins and Keston, and Cassie Williams and Dan; nine great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.
