TAHLEQUAH – E.J. “Janie” Morgan was born Christmas Day, 1937, in the community of Qualls, Oklahoma to Kinnith and Bernine (Holderby) Kirk. She passed from this life on April 20, 2015, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 77, on the one-year anniversary of the death of her beloved husband and companion of 58 years, Jerry. Janie was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She attended Stone Chapel Grade School and was a graduate of Tahlequah High School. She worked for Christian Children’s Fund for 16 years and retired from the city of Tahlequah after almost 25 years there. Janie was a faithful member of the Philadelphia Bible Center Church, where she enjoyed teaching children’s Bible classes. She loved to do needle work and crochet and had a large collection of vintage bottles and stuffed rabbits. Janie was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, and her parents, Kinnith and Bernine. Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Gary of Tulsa and Bill of Park Hill; daughter-in-law Kathy of Park Hill; granddaughter, Stephanie of Tulsa; brothers, Bill of Tahlequah, Claudie of Tulsa, and Kelly of Burnt Cabin; along with a host of family and friends. Janie lived her life by example - quiet, humble, hardworking, faithful, and caring. She loved people and would work tirelessly in the background to help, comfort and care for others. She touched the lives of all who knew her. A memorial service to celebrate her life is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Green Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah, with Pastor David Roberts officiating.
