Don Lee Coffman, 77, of Tahlequah passed away at his home on October 8, 2017.
Born March 1, 1940 in Holdenville, OK, he was the son of Virgil and Bessie (Williams) Coffman. After graduating from Wagoner High School in 1958, he served as a member of the National Guard and later joined the U. S. Air Force for a total of 8 years military service.
Don received his bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and his Masters in Hospital Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He served as hospital administrator at OKC Baptist Hospital, Tahlequah City Hospital, Gardena Memorial Hospital and Clairmont Community Hospital in southern California. In 1982, Don was the co-founder and COO of Redicare, Inc (Urgent Care Centers), a public company.
He established Goldies Patio Grill of Tahlequah in 1991. Don was a former Tahlequah Chamber of Commerce President and a member of the NSU Foundation for many years. While a member of First Christian Church, he served as an Elder and Board Chairman. As a current member of First United Methodist Church, he served as SPRC Chairman and on the Trustees Committee. Don was a volunteer coach for his sons' soccer (he learned right along with them), baseball and tennis teams.
In 1976 he married Barbara Burrows in Las Vegas, Nevada and they enjoyed 41 plus wonderful, exciting years of marriage. Don loved fishing and hunting with his sons, Jeff and Kent. Spending time with his kids and grandkids was his greatest joy. He also loved attending the Bible Searchers Sunday School Class at FUMC and truly appreciated the "showers of love" they bestowed his last 18 months.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
Don is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Jeff and wife Ashley and grandsons Tyler and Blake, all of Tulsa; son, Kent and wife Julia and granddaughters CeCe and Cate of Gravette, Arkansas; brother in law and sister in law Bob and Linda Priest; sister in laws, Lorene Coffman and Juanita Coffman; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Carter Hospice -- Lindsey, Misty, Tara and Betty --for their excellent and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, in memory of Don, may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Tahlequah.
