Darryl Wayne McGowin was born on Nov. 8, 1983, in Tahlequah, Okla., the son of Randall and Teresa Jo (Carpenter) McGowin. He attended school at Shady Grove and later attended Hulbert High School. He married his wife, Marti Spradling, in Tahlequah, on Feb. 26, 2015, after spending eight wonderful years together. They were raising a family of one son, Jaxton Troylee, and Darryl had a daughter residing in Tahlequah, Dwalyn Dawn. Darryl was employed by Whitlock Company as the head security guard, a job he cherished because of his many friends. Whenever he had spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting game of all varieties. He liked hanging out with his friends and sharing a laugh. He spent a great deal of time working on his truck and motorcycle, always finding something to do. Darryl was first and foremost a family man; his children were the best and how he loved a cookout on the weekend, with family and friend gathered around. He was the kind of man that took friendship seriously, and he was there when you called, no matter what. His smile was famous, and you could count on Darryl to smile and be your friend. He was never too busy to tell you hi. Darryl passed from this life all too soon on Dec. 27, 2015, in Gore, Okla. He was 32 years old. He leaves a vacancy that will never be filled with one as special as Darryl. Darryl is preceded in death by his grandfather, George McGowin; grandmother, Faye Carpenter; and one cousin, Lindsey Carpenter. Darryl’s memory lives on in his wife, Marti of the home in Gore; and his two children, Dwalyn Dawn McGowin of Tahlequah, and Jaxton Troylee McGowin of the home in Gore. He leaves his mother and father, Teresa Carpenter Robbins and husband Darren of Hulbert, and Randall McGowin of Keys. Darryl has five brothers and two sisters, Lacie Shaw and husband Chris of Derby, Kan., Austin Robbins of Derby, Kan., Dustin McGowin of Keys, Jarren Robbins of Hulbert, Natalie McGowin of Keys, Jimmy McGowin of Keys, and Jase McGowin also of Keys. He leaves two very special nieces, Pyper Shaw and Lilly Shaw, all of Derby, Kan. He has a maternal grandfather, Sid Carpenter of Porter; his grandmother, Ruthie McGowin; as well as many aunts and uncles, cousins and all his friends and co-workers. Reed-Culver Funeral Home, 117 W.
