MUSKOGEE – Clara Jean Hughes, 74, of Muskogee, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23. She was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Tahlequah, to Wilson Bryan Finney and Stella Clara Elizabeth Burchett Finney. Clara married Charles Lee Hughes in April 1972 in Muskogee. They shared more than 37 years of life and marriage together when Charles passed in December 2009. She will always be remembered for her love of sewing, quilting, and crafts, but most important was for being a homemaker for her family. Clara loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was of the Southern Baptist faith. Clara will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Stella Finney; husband, Charles Hughes; brothers, George, Barney, Perry, Bill, and Albert; sisters, Betty, Dorothy, Beulah Mae; and sister-in-law, Sandra Finney. Clara is survived by her daughters, Belinda (B.J.) Garvin and husband, Curtis, of Webbers Falls, Rhonda Warlick and husband, Kevin, of Muskogee; stepdaughter, Bernadine Hughes Milstead of Park Hill; stepson, Charles (C.W.) Hughes and wife, Pat, of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Jason Garvin and wife, Rachel, Ryan Roach, Jeremy Garvin and wife, Brandi, Charleston Hughes, Charlene Morrison and husband, Jake, Donny Warlick, Callip Hughes, Paige Warlick, Bradley Soliman, Scotty Milstead, and Kayla Washington; great-grandchildren, Lynnly Garvin, Traeven Morrison, Jett Morrison, Everly Morrison, T.J. Morgan, Denver Morgan, Santos Washington, Lilianna Washington, Kierra Washington; and many nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. Funeral services celebrating Clara’s life will be 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 28, at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelly Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Miller Cemetery in Tahlequah with Jason Garvin, Jeremy Garvin, Donny Warlick, C.W. Hughes, Bradley Soliman, and Scotty Milstead serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charleston Hughes, Callip Hughes, Ryan Roach, and Paul Finney. Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home.
