Charley Holcomb was born on February 26th, 1936 in the Tailholt community where he was raised and lived all his life. He was the son of Johnson and Eliza (Pigeon) Holcomb. Charley served in the National Guard until his honorable discharge. He later began work with Greenleaf Nursery, where he drove a truck for 43 years. He enjoyed truck driving until his health would no longer allow him to do so. He served as president of the Tenkiller School Board for 28 years until 2016. He was proud of all his children for what they accomplished in life, with two of his sons who followed in his footsteps as truck drivers. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with this family; his grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to him. He also loved family get-togethers, going to church, and playing guitar with Jess and church family. Charley was a very close to his mother and father, spoke fluent Cherokee and very proud of his heritage. He was a member of Eldon Baptist Church. He was an ordained preacher and most of his sermons were done in the Cherokee language. Charley was a dedicated church member and went to church when he was able. You could always find Charley reading his bible out on the front porch and enjoyed watching the sun go down. He enjoyed company when they would just sit and talk, even play guitar for comfort. This good and faithful servant had a glorious birthday celebration in Heaven when he was called home to be with the Lord on February 26th, 2018 at the age of 82. Charley will be dearly missed and loved by his family.

Charley is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jeff Holcomb, Richard Holcomb, and Joe Holcomb, one sister, Mamie Sue Buck and one nephew.
