Funeral services for Charles Michael "Mike" Rousey,68, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, are 10:00 am, January 23, 2017, at Cornerstone Fellowship Church. Officiating will be Chaplain Scott Wolff and Chaplain Sam Garner. Serving as pallbearers are Ron Daniels, Hunter Daniels, Larrett Daniels, Brad Terrapin, Curtis Brannon, Ronnie (Monk) Brannon, Steve Rousey, and Blaine Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Cherokee County Sheriff's Department, and the Tahlequah Police Department. Charles Michael Rousey was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Neal and Darlene (McClintock) Rousey. He passed away at Northeastern Health System in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on January 16, 2017.
Mike was a 1966 graduate of Tahlequah High School. Following graduation he joined the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. While enlisted he earned several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal with one cluster, a Rifle Marksman Badge, Meritorious Unit Citation, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Purple Heart Medal with two clusters, and Good Conduct Medal. Mike also held the position of drill instructor at Camp Pendleton.
Upon his discharge and return to Tahlequah, Mike went to work for the Tahlequah Police Department and was employed there for seventeen years. He then graduated the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy and served as a State Trooper with troop W for twenty eight years.
Mike was so very proud of his service to our country as a Marine, and law enforcement officer.
Mike loved rodeoing with his grandsons, trail rides with his family and taking care of his cattle.
Mike was preceded in death by his dad and mom Neal and Darlene Rousey.
Those left to mourn are his daughter Lesa Rousey and her husband Ron Daniels of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; Sue Rousey of Qualls, Oklahoma; Gwen Terrapin and Son, Brad Terrapin of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; his grandsons, Hunter Daniels and wife Lacee, Larrett Daniels, Aydyn Terrapin and Jackson Terrapin; and great grandson Riggin Cole Daniels; his brother Steve Rousey, and wife Sandra; two sisters, Melinda Corn and husband Paul, and Melissa Rousey and husband Blaine Johnson.
Mike loved his family dearly and he will be dearly missed by them and his many friends too numerous to mention.
