Carol Sue Mayberry

Carol Sue Mayberry the daughter of Carl and Nora (Ballew) Thompson was born December 3, 1932, in Cookson, Oklahoma and departed this life on June 4, 2019, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 1 day.
Sue married Loyd November 5, 1949, at her granny and papa's house in Tahlequah. Sue was able to travel while Loyd was in the Air Force. She got to see many countries and cultures living 2 years in Thailand and 3 years in Italy just to name a few places. While in Thailand, she got to meet her lifelong friends, B.G. Moore and wife Ann. Glen and Sheryl were right across the street where her sons could play with them. While in Italy, she became good friends with Dana and Judy Eddings. In December 1970 they moved back to Tahlequah, where she lived out the remainder of her life.
Sue enjoyed her role as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sue loved spending time with her family. She liked playing bingo at her sister Barbara's bingo hall and seeing a lot of her friends and family there. She enjoyed her shopping trips to Dillard's with her sister Mildred and school clothes shopping her granddaughter, Shawna. Sue looked forward to Gary bringing her grandson Gerrod over every morning before Kindergarten. She always fixed Gerrod a scrabbled egg and if he got out of line she would chase him with the flyswatter. She also liked watching Soap Operas and getting her hair done. After they moved back to Tahlequah she got a job with her mom at Ozark Nursery in the label room where they loved to spend many hours catching up on gossip. Her sister-in-law, Gail Thompson, was her best friend, and they looked forward to talking to each other every day and traveling to her nephew Bobby and Steve's ballgames. She looked forward to having Tom and Sally visit, going to resale shops and them taking her to meet with her longtime friend, Dana Eddings and wife Sylvia for lunch. Sue knew she could always call on her nephew, Charles as her handyman. Her niece Pam would often bring her a home cooked pies and cookies by which Sue always enjoyed.. She especially loved to have cookouts with her family and friends down by the pond, and everyone would always compliment her on making the best baked beans. Sue enjoyed life, and she made an impact on everyone who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Loyd Mayberry; her brothers Joe Thompson and Robert Thompson; and her sisters Lucille Poor and Mildred Collins.
