Brodie's Story

Brodie Jones, 82, of Tahlequah, went to his heavenly reunion on Saturday, November 5, 2016 with his loving family at his side.
Brodie was born July 17, 1934 in Braggs, Oklahoma. He attended school in Braggs and met the love of his life, Roberta Staton. They met in first grade and became high school sweethearts. After high school, he enlisted in the army and he and Roberta married February 1, 1955 and lived in Hawaii where he finished out his service. He settled in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where he raised a family of three daughters and one son. He graduated from Northeastern State College and was employed at Liberty State Bank where he worked for 22 years. He finished out his career at First National Bank, later known as Bank of America and retired in 1997.
Brodie was such an active man who enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening, and wood cutting. He enjoyed playing pick-up basketball with his friends until the age of 54. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends to play cards and dominoes and loved to follow his kids and grandkids in all school sports.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Ida Mae Jones; brothers, Homer, Burl, Ceslar, Chester, Glen and Bert Ray Jones; sisters, Janice Petrie and Wanda Heard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Roberta Jones of Tahlequah; daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and David Lowry of Tahlequah, Cathy and John Richards of Tulsa, Julie and Gary Luellen of Glenpool, and son and daughter-in-law Duane and Tanya Jones of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Jason and Amy Lowry of Tahlequah, Scott and Meghan Lowry of Tahlequah, Mitch and Amanda Richards of Claremore, Allie and Dan O'Hara of Tulsa, Brodie Gene and Jaxon Jones of Tahlequah; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Justin, and Hannah Hipp of Claremore, Amelia and Vivian Lowry of Tahlequah, and Maggy Lowry of Tahlequah; one sister and brother-in-law Bertie Faye and Jerry Metzer of Braggs; and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
Services for Mr. Brodie Jones will be held at Park Hill Baptist Church November 8 at 10:00 under the care of Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, with John Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Tahlequah City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the many friends and family who have loved and supported Brodie these past 82 years
