TAHLEQUAH – Brian Anderson was born Feb. 7, 1960, in Tahlequah to William Leo and LeeAnna (Welch) Anderson. He departed this life on Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at his home in Peggs, at the age of 55 years and 7 months. He completed a courageous battle to gain victory in the eyes of the Lord. Brian was a lifetime resident of Peggs. He graduated Locust Grove High School as a part of the class of 1978. On Sept. 7, 1979, in Locust Grove, Brian Anderson and Stephanie Bell were united in marriage. The couple had been married exactly 36 years to the day. Brian completed CLEET training for law enforcement in 1987. He served the Tahlequah community by giving over 23 years of service. At the time of his retirement, Brian was the assistant police chief of the Tahlequah Police Department. Brian was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Peggs. He enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to fish and go camping. He also had a love for horseback riding. Brian had an artistic talent for sketching. He treasured time spent with his family and loved them dearly. He will be missed by many. Brian is survived by: his wife, Stephanie, of the home; daughter, Brooke Anderson of Tahlequah; son, Chase Anderson and wife Lesa of Peggs; his father, Leo Anderson and his wife Sharlene of Locust Grove; brothers, Eldon Anderson and his wife, Pam, of Chandler, and Will Anderson and his wife, Eugena, of Peggs; sisters: Teresa Culie and husband, Robin, of Peggs, Deretha Dawes and Harry Fentress of Eldon, and Annalee Moore and Jim Richardson of Proctor; his mother and father-in-law, Mary and Steve Bell of Locust Grove; sister-in-law, Sonya Bell of Adair; brothers-in-law, Stephen Bell and wife Tammi of Oahu, Hawaii, and Scott Bell and wife, Brooke, of Oceanside, Calif.; 38 nieces and nephews; and other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by: his mother; nephew, Joshua Anderson; and great-niece: Jade Anderson. The family ask that donations be made to The Colt Rowland Family or The Hudson Thomas Family via the Bank of Locust Grove, C/O Stephanie Anderson, P O Box 219, Locust Grove, Oklahoma 74352. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Tahlequah. Rev. Brian Kester will officiate. Cremation will follow.
