FORT GIBSON – Billy Ray Barnett Jr., 42, was born Oct. 2, 1972, on a Naval Base in Keflavik, Iceland, to Billy Ray Barnett Sr. and Patricia Ann (Murray) Barnett. Billy went to be with our heavenly father Monday, May 11, 2015, in Tahlequah. He attended Muskogee Public Schools and pursued a lifelong career in horticulture. Beginning with Buckaroo Nursery and Sturdivant Landscape and Design, he moved onto open his own business, Barnett Landscape and Irrigation. After moving to Tahlequah, he continued honing his craft while on staff at Northeastern State University for the next 10 years and later at Park Hill Nursery. He enjoyed freelance landscaping jobs with his family and teaching his boys the trade. He also loved drawing, old country music, playing acoustic guitar and singing. But, being a father to his three boys was his greatest joy. He loved taking them camping and fishing. He doted on his children’s academic achievements and their participation in sports.
