TAHLEQUAH – Albert “Sandy” Daugherty Jr. died in his home surrounded by family, on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015. He was 68 years old. Sandy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda Hill Daugherty; their son, Johnny Whitecrow; sister, Deborah (Mark Van Veen); brothers, Perry (Donald Anderson), and Michael (Kelly); nephews, Patrick Daugherty and Larry Fields; niece, Lindsey Chapman; and many relatives. Born Sept. 1, 1946, in Muskogee, Sandy lived in Tahlequah and attended Tahlequah Public Schools. He was a facilities management supervisor at Cherokee Nation for several years. He was preceded by his parents, Albert and Ella Mae (Ketcher) Daugherty; uncle, William Fodder; and aunt, Florence Fodder. Sandy left us with many fond memories: Growing up in the TeeHee Addition, fishing and swimming with cousins, fun times with his school buddies, attending Sunday School at 14 Mile Creek Church (Swimmer) and family trips to Branson, Mo. He enjoyed shopping, eating out and sports – especially University of Oklahoma Football. Sandy was a blessing to so many, especially to his sister and brothers who he helped raise after the death of their parents. He was kind and caring, thoughtful and generous. His love, kindness and humor will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Echota Cemetery in Adair County. Reed-Culver Funeral Home, 117 W. Delaware, 918-456-2551.
