Funeral services for A.C. "Okie" Dunn are 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Green Country Funeral Home. Pallbearers are members of the Fort Sill US Army Honors Team. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Minyard, Johnny Parris, Rocky Ledbetter, Bob Snook, Randy Hutchins, and Owen Gillmore. Interment will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery, under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com.
A.C. Dunn was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Qualls, Okla., to Daniel Luther and Lettie (Roberts) Dunn. He passed away at his home in Tahlequah on April 11, 2016, at the age of 85.
A.C. was raised in the Qualls area of Cherokee County. At the age of 16, he left for the US Army. While serving in Germany he met Ingrid Spallek and they were married in 1962.
Following his honorable discharge, he began a career with the Department of Corrections which would last for 17 years. He would retire and return to Cherokee County in 1974.
A.C. was a member of the DAV, a lifetime member of the VFW, honorable member of the Purple Heart, and a beloved husband, father and soldier.
Preceding A.C. in death are his parents, Daniel and Lettie Dunn; brothers, D.L. and Otto Dunn; and sisters, Jackie and Juanita Dunn.
He is survived by his wife, Ingrid of the home; two children, Lucy Roe and husband Thomas of Shawnee, Kan., and Uwe "Geno" Dunn and wife Rhonda of Tahlequah, Okla.; three grandchildren, Daniel Roe, Zach Dunn and Sarah Dunn; a brother, Howard Dunn; and many other friends and loved ones.
